Okay so your provider recommended that you see a specialist, now what?
Please follow the specific directions so that we can process your referral in
a timely manner.
Allow at least 3 business days for SFP to process your authorization request with most commercial insurances. Seven business days are needed if your insurance is Tricare.
1. Call your insurance company to see if a referral is needed prior to your
appointment with the specialist and if the specialist you are wanting to see
is in network with your insurance plan.
2. If a referral is needed, fill out ALL the information on link below and click
submit or you may call our 24-hour referral line at (703) 421-7000 press
option 2 and provide all information on form.
Failure to supply all necessary information will result in a delay in the processing of your request.
You must have been seen in our office within 1 year of Referral request. Depending on the situation, we may ask you to make an appointment with one of our providers prior to issuing your referral.
If you see a specialist without your referral, your insurance company may not pay your specialist’s invoices. We cannot backdate referrals and we are unable to process same day request unless it is a true medical emergency.
